Microsoft IT Academy Program

Since June 2003, the College of Computing and Information Science has been running a Microsoft IT Academy program. To date more than 1000 students have acquired different IT certifications by attending different programs offered in the Academy. 

This course prepares students for academic education tracks, career opportunities such as Network Administrators, Technical Support Specialists, and Design Engineers.

Students train in; Windows Server,  Exchange Server, Integration Server, Application Center Server, Microsoft Operating Systems: Windows XP, Vista and 7 Professional, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server.

The Microsoft IT Academy Program is a program designed to allow accredited academic institutions to deliver to students a premium education on cutting-edge Microsoft® technologies. From the desktop to networking and programming, students and employers worldwide look to Microsoft IT Academies for the latest technologies, in-demand skills, and the assurance of the Microsoft quality standard. In line with this general aim, the Microsoft IT Academy of CoCIS delivers training in accordance with guidelines issued by Microsoft world-wide. 

The Academy uses services of Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs) to deliver the training as it is a Microsoft basic requirement that IT Academies associate with MCT certified trainers to ensure that Microsoft’s high technical training standards are met when training is obtained from the accredited institutions.

  • Curriculum

    The Academy follows the Microsoft Official Curriculum guidelines to deliver courses leading to any of the following certifications:

    • Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional ( MCITP)
    • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist ( MCTS)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSE)
    • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
    • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Admission Requirements for Microsoft Academy Courses

    The courses are skills-based and therefore open to everyone who is computer literate and has knowledge of English.

  • Fees Payable: 

    Modules are offered at 370,000 Ugsh each for Server 2003 and 550,000 Ugsh for server 2008, covering both tuition and study materials.

    The courses offered are based on windows 2003 server and 2008 server syllabuses. Windows 2008 Exchange Server may be organized on request.

  • Course Duration

    Each course module is covered approximately in 5 weeks for server 2003 and approximately 7 weeks for Server 2008. The total duration is dependent upon the number of modules required for a selected certification.

    CoCIS is an authorized Prometric Testing Center to deliver Microsoft Certifications.

  • Eligibility 

    Admission is open to all, including those without IT background.
