The College of Computing and Information Sciences, COCIS, is headed by a Principal, Prof. Lillian Tibatemwa-Ekirikubinza, deputized by Dr. John Ngubiri. It is one of the nine constituent colleges of Makerere University. COCIS is formed from the merger of the former Faculty of Computing and Informatics Technology, CIT, and the East African School of Library and Information Sciences. COCIS is comprised of two schools; the School of Computing and Informatics Technology which started in 1985 as an Institute of Computer Science, and the East African School of Library and Information Science which has existed since 1963. Dr. Josephine Nabukenya is the Dean of CIT, and Assoc. Prof. Constant Okello Obura is the Dean of EASLIS.
