Electronic Records Management Workshop

Center for Innovations and Professional Skills Development (CiPSD) is pleased to invite to register for Electronic Records Management (ERM) Training workshop which is organised by Makerere University, College of Computing and Information Sciences (COCIS), Center for Innovations and Professional Skills Development (CiPSD) at the College premises from 10th – 14th June 2013 and will be facilitated by a Records Management Expert. The five day workshop will focus on practical skills-building, the style will be participative and use of positive models and skills practices.

The Theme is;

“Developing and implementing a world- class Electronic Records Management System”

New approaches to electronic preservation and new services are beginning to offer new options for information life cycle management including electronic archiving and shared electronic records management services. The manager’s goal today should be to determine the most efficient way to manage electronic records so that access for their entire retention period in an organization is ensured. The training program will provide the participants with an opportunity to learn contemporary methodologies that can be adopted to address several deficiencies in the current records and archives management infrastructure in an organization and will help to resolve the complexity of issues surrounding management of organization’s records today.

Who should attend this training?

Records Managers/Directors, Chief information officers, Chief knowledge officers, Managers, Project Managers, Document Management and Data management team, IT Department, Archivists, Secretaries, Digital/Imaging/Electronic specialists, Corporate Records managers/units, procurement persons, Officers in both Private and Public sector organizations, at all levels of professional engagement involved in records management, document management, information management, information systems, archives, knowledge management, library services, content management, E-government, project management, intranet communications, information services, information technology and database management .

What will participants learn?

The program addresses major issues and challenges facing the records management profession in their quest to effectively manage electronic records. This highly interactive course is designed to empower individuals who are looking for ways to enhance their performance, broaden their knowledge on records management.  Participants will also learn various issues relating to the organizational environment for conventional and electronic record keeping which will include: information security, the challenges of meeting e-governance requirements, Audit requirements and the ISO information management Standards.

The course Modules:

Understanding the context of legal electronic records management , Electronic Document Record Management (EDRM),  Understanding how EDRM links to IT and business strategies , Linking document management, Records management and workflow and how will it affect the way business is conducted, Implementing the EDRM system, Data synchronization, Driving cultural change to ensure successful EDRM Implementation, Managing the creation, use and disposal of electronic records , Metadata management, Creating a secure virtual environment for operating documents and records, process flow, electronic tracking and forwarding documents, improving management of business continuity and implementing repositories of information.
To conclude the workshop and evaluate skills enhancement, there shall be an end-of-course evaluation exercise and participants will be awarded certificates of course completion.

Training Registration and Payment of Fees:

Participants will be required to pay training fee of Shs 650,000/= (Six hundred and fifty thousand shillings only) per person which will include Workshop materials, lunch & refreshments.
