Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Science and Technology visited the College of Computing and Information Sciences and were impressed by the infrastructure the College has put in place in order to avail Computing and ICT services to its students and the nation as a whole.
The MPs who were led by their chairperson, Robert Sekitoleko Kafeero (MP for Nakifuma Constituency) on their maiden tour of the College on Wednesday 15th February, 2012 visited some of the unit’s specialized labs which included: the Advanced Multimedia Lab, the Advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS), the Pan-African E-Network Tele-Education Labs and some General Service Labs. They also received documents detailing the current research being undertaken at the College and pledged to lobby government to avail more support to promote the innovations being carried out at the unit.
The MPs were on a fact-finding mission aimed at identifying the research undertaken at the College, how it translates into national development and the challenges encountered while conducting research.
