On Friday 6th Feb 2015, copyrightX classes started. CopyrightX is a twelve-week networked course, offered from January to May each year under the auspices of Harvard Law School, the HarvardX distance-learning initiative, and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society. The class consists of a number of students of any caliber including lawyers, actors, business men, IT professionals and students from any college or university. The class moderators are Mr. Francis Sekitto a lecturer at EASLIS and Patrick a lawyer.
The major course is intellectual property which deals with protection of anything produced using ones intellect ranging from software, music, films and commercial products.” Mr. Francis explained.
The students are provided with recorded lectures which are well elaborated and extensive with tutorials and well explained notes. These are well divided to fit weekly reading and the students meet once a week/ once in 2 weeks for a discussion where they brainstorm, share ideas, experiences and ask questions. The students are advised to read enough such that they can follow in the subsequent discussions. At the end of the course, the students will have an exam which will qualify them to attain the certificate from Harvard University.
