Huawei Uganda donated ICT equipment to the Huawei’s ICT Academy hosted at the College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University.

The Huawei ICT Academy was launched in May 2019 at Makerere University to train and certify 1000 students free of charge in the next two years. The Academy covers course combines both theories and practical operations ranging from Enterprise Networks such as Routing and Switching, Advanced Network and Network technology, information technology such as Storage, Cloud computing and big data among others.

The handover ceremony was graced by the Guest of Honor Dr. Hatwib Mugasa (Executive Director NITA-U), Prof. Eria Hisali (Ag. Vice Chancellor, Makerere University), Mr. Gaofei (Managing Director, Huawei Uganda), Prof. Tonny Oyana. (Principal, College of Computing and Information Sciences).

Prof. Tonny Oyana during his opening remarks thanked Huawei Uganda for its donation towards the Huawei ICT academy. He also encouraged Huawei Uganda to open more ICT Academies within the private universities to fully fulfil its pledge of training students interested in ICT.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eria Hisali thanked Huawei Uganda for the donation and that it would go a long way in addressing ICT research and development at the University.

Dr. Mugasa Hatwib the guest of honor and a former student at the College of Computing and Information Sciences appreciated and thanked Huawei for honoring their pledge. He emphasized that its such donations and partnerships that can enable to transform Uganda in key areas like research and innovations.
